Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, unveiled two new concept vehicles at Genesis House New York. The recently revealed vehicles include “Neolun,” boasting luxury, and “GV60 Magma,” a high-performance car.
The unveiling represents a crucial milestone in the automaker’s evolution, highlighting a mix of innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and high performance.
The Luxurious Neolun
The Neolun Concept, the brand’s first full-size electric SUV, integrates the traditional warmth of Korean hospitality with futuristic innovation. The electric vehicle has unique coach doors without any B-pillars connecting the vehicle’s body and roof.
In addition, Neolun features a radiant heating system that draws inspiration from Korea’s traditional “ondol.” It is a Korean heating method that uses direct heat under the floor to provide warmth. In the car, you can see heating films on the dashboard, door trims, floor, seatbacks and console sides.
According to Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke, the Neolun Concept draws inspiration from Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars. Also, it embodies timeless design and refined craftsmanship.
Moreover, there’s a seamless blend between the vehicle’s exterior and interior. The cabin represents a modern reinterpretation of Korea’s distinct hospitality culture. The EV offers passengers a spacious cabin featuring luxurious materials such as cashmere and naturally dyed purple silk leather. Further, it has an advanced sound system that can create a concert hall-like feeling.
The High-Performance GV60 Magma
The Magma program adds a new dimension to Genesis, marking the brand’s expansion into the realm of high-performance vehicles.
The GV60 Magma Concept elevates the design and performance of the existing GV60, Genesis’ first dedicated EV model, with improved battery and motor technology. Moreover, to enhance stability during dynamic driving, the car has been widened and lowered, resulting in a more aggressive stance and enabling a lower centre of gravity.
At the front, a wide and lower main air intake in the bumper effectively cools the batteries, motor, and brakes. On the other hand, the air curtains enhance the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. In addition, the enlarged fenders, integrated wheelhouse outlets, and flow-formed 21-inch wheels help improve cooling for the brakes.
Moreover, with involvement from racing legend Jacky Ickx, the Genesis Magma program highlights the brand’s commitment to producing high-performance models. Appointed as Genesis Brand Partner, Ickx shared his admiration for Genesis’ elegance and design aesthetics, expressing excitement about applying his racing expertise to the Magma program.
