Porsche is set to introduce the flagship version of its popular electric supercar Taycan later this month. The company has confirmed the launch date with a new teaser image showing the silhouette of the vehicle, though many details remain unknown as of now. What we do know, is that the “most dynamic Taycan of all time” is ready to break cover on March 11 at 2 p.m. CET or 6:30 p.m. IST.
For those unaware, Porsche recently introduced the facelift version of the Taycan, which brings improvement to just about every aspect of the electric car. The 2025 Taycan model, as it is called, offers a better range through a bigger battery (105 kWh) than the outgoing model, which also promises a faster charging time. With better efficiency across systems, the new Taycan even delivers a higher performance than before. The upcoming model of Taycan, with a promise of being the “most dynamic” of the lot, is only expected to take the performance numbers a notch above.
From what is being speculated, the new performance version will be called the Taycan Turbo GT. The new teaser of the vehicle shows a sleek and sporty silhouette well-tuned for track performance and complete with a huge spoiler at the back. Taycan Turbo GT is possibly the same model that set a 7:07.55 second lap time at the Nürburgring earlier this year by Lars Kern, a Porsche development driver.
That’s a record for an electric saloon and nearly 18 seconds quicker than the Tesla Model S Plaid, the previous record-holder. That means the Taycan Turbo GT is just 2 seconds behind the Rimac Nevera, which set the record in at 7 minutes and 5.298 seconds.
However, that’s 26 seconds faster than the Porsche Taycan S Sport set in 2022. According to Kevin Giek, Vice President of Product Line Taycan, twenty-six seconds is half an eternity in motorsport.
Porsche’s current flagship Taycan, Turbo S generates 938bhp and over 1,100Nm of torque, making it go from 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds. It is expected that the Taycan ‘GT Turbo’ will pump out over 1,000bhp, making it the fastest model yet.
