Kia has announced the prices and begun taking orders for the car in South Korea. The Korean carmaker revealed the affordable EV3 SUV last October and unveiled it last month.
The third electric vehicle in the Kia lineup, the EV3 will fit into the South Korean automaker’s new-generation, budget-friendly portfolio. Vice President of Kia South Korea Jeong Won-Jeong said that the business anticipates consumers to select the EV3 without any doubts.
Kia has four trim levels available at different pricing points; the Standard model starts at $30,700 (₹25.6 lakh). The GT Line and Long-Range trims are available for $34,100 (₹28.4 lakh), while the Earth trim starts at $33,400 (₹27.8 lakh).
Powertrain and Battery
The E-GMP electric vehicle platform from Hyundai Motor Group serves as the foundation for EV3. The SUV makes use of the 4th generation of batteries from the company.
With a 58.3 kWh battery, the EV3 has a standard range of 350 km. However, with the larger 81.4 kWh battery, the Long-Range model offers an impressive range of 501km.
The EV3 compact SUV is available in a single front-wheel-mounted electric motor. However, it produces 283 Nm and 150 kW (200 horsepower). With this setup, the EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 170 km/h.
Additionally, with a 350-kW fast charger, the charging of the base model from 10% to 80% takes 29 minutes. But it takes 31 minutes for the long-range variant.
Kia has added unique elements that improve airflow and boost range. Also, it has 17-inch aerodynamic wheels, an integrated active air flap in the bumper, a wheel gap reduction, and front and rear undercovers with a 3D curved design.
EV3 Interior and Features
The dashboard arrangement is identical to that of the EV9, with two 12.3-inch floating infotainment panels.
Furthermore, there are buttons for media control and navigation. Notably, there is a 30-inch widescreen configuration with a 5-inch monitor for the HVAC controls.
The EV3 comes with a quality Harman Kardon sound system, an extensive ADAS package, and a 12-inch heads-up display. Also, it offers a roomy 460-liter trunk and an additional 25-liter front trunk for storage.
Wrapping Up
Kia plans to introduce the EV3 in July in Korea, with a global rollout scheduled to occur gradually. Additionally, the brand declared that the EV3 will make its Asian debut in 2025.
Kia might introduce the EV3 in India due to the growth of the EV market in the country. Kia is developing other EVs, such as the Carens and Clavis, scheduled for release in 2025.
