Mahindra All-Electric XUV 3XO SUV will Enter Production by November 2024

Mahindra electric SUV will come with the 34.5kWh battery pack used in the XUV400 lower-spec variant

Mahindra plans to introduce the all-electric XUV 3XO EV by year-end. Dubbed internally as the S240, it will sit below the XUV400 EV. Multiple media sources indicate the upcoming EV SUV will go into mass production by November this year.

Also, reports emerged in late 2023 regarding the creation of a Mahindra electric SUV derived from the former XUV300 (XUV 3XO). Initially planned for a mid-2024 release, the launch appears to have been postponed.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV Production

Mahindra aims to produce between 1,500 to 1,800 units of the XUV 3XO EV per month, reflecting its positioning as a mass-market vehicle. This cautious target could stem from a decline in the adoption rate of electric vehicles. This trend is notable, considering the XUV400 EV did not achieve significant sales despite undergoing several updates.

Moreover, the automaker intends to manufacture about 12,000 units of the XUV 3XO across its entire range of fuel options. This includes petrol, diesel, and electric variants.

Other Details

The XUV 3XO EV will likely maintain identical dimensions to its ICE counterpart (3,990 mm L x 1,821 mm W x 1,647 mm H). Additionally, it will mostly take design inspiration from the updated SUV model, with a few unique EV features. Also, the interior and its components will closely resemble those found in the XUV 3XO.

The EV will come with the same 34.5kWh battery pack used in the XUV400 lower-spec EV variants. However, specifics regarding the range or electric motor details remain undisclosed.

Mahindra intends to set a lower price point for the XUV 3XO EV compared to the XUV400 EV. Expect the initial pricing to range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh. It means customers could save around Rs 2 lakh compared to the top-end XUV400 EV model.

While the XUV400 EV experienced sluggish sales, Mahindra aims to gain a stronger competitive advantage with the XUV 3XO EV. When launched in the market, it will potentially challenge the Tata Nexon EV.
