Tata Motors released a teaser of its upcoming electric vehicle, the Curvv EV. Now it suggests only one thing – its launch is not too far away. Earlier, we had seen the EV only in the form of a concept.
The Curvv EV will follow Tata’s Activ.ev platform. It will be the automaker’s second vehicle to do so after the Punch EV, which debuted earlier in the year. Moreover, Tata Motors plans to introduce the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant of the SUV for sale soon after launching the EV variant.
Design of the Curvv EV
Tata exhibited the nearly finalized version of the internal combustion engine (ICE) Curvv at the Bharat Mobility Expo. However, the electric variant, though resembling it closely, will have unique design elements tailored for electric vehicles to distinguish itself.
The teaser video doesn’t reveal much about the vehicle design. But it suggests the EV will have a roofline similar to a coupe. Also, it shows details such as pop-out door handles and metallic accents around what seem to be the front air vents.
Nevertheless, the SUV will feature daytime running lamps (DRLs) and headlamps, which look similar to those of the Nexon EV. Furthermore, the teaser reveals the integrated taillamp design and alloy wheels. Also, it provides a glimpse of the color choices that will be offered for the vehicle.
What About Other Details?
Expect the SUV’s interior to feature a sleek and simple layout, with a few buttons and a standalone infotainment system. Also, the EV might come with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite for enhanced safety.
Tata Motors has not disclosed any specifics about the EV’s powertrain. However, there are chances that the EV might feature a 50kWh battery pack. You can expect a claimed range of over 500 km from the Curvv.
Currently, Tata offers four electric vehicles:
- Tiago EV (Rs 7.99 lakh)
- Punch EV (Rs 10.99 lakh)
- Tigor EV (Rs 12.49 lakh)
- Nexon EV (Rs 14.49 lakh)
Note that all the prices are ex-showroom. Chances are that Tata will price the Curvv EV slightly higher (Rs 16-17 lakh) than that of the Nexon EV.
