Kia India Issues EV6 Recall Over ICCU Concerns: Impact on 1,138 Units

With price around 62 lakhs in India, Kia EV6 competes with Volvo XC40 Recharge, Skoda Enyaq iV and C40 Recharge

Kia India is recalling the EV6 electric SUV voluntarily. According to the Korean automaker, it impacts 1,138 units manufactured from March 3, 2022, to April 14, 2023. The reason for the recall is a possible problem with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU).

The ICCU issue in the EV6 could cause essential systems to lose power if the auxiliary battery fails to charge. This affects crucial functions such as lighting and the vehicle’s start/stop mechanism. Kia is taking action to resolve this safety issue by implementing a software upgrade for the impacted vehicles.

Last month, Hyundai encountered a similar issue with its Ioniq 5 model, where an ICCU-related problem impacted crucial vehicle functions.
