Tata Motors is preparing to introduce its latest coupe SUV, the Curvv, in both traditional combustion engine and electric versions. The Indian automaker will release the EV variant on August 7, with the ICE variant to be followed shortly after.
On July 19, Tata unveiled the production spec-variant of the Curvv. However, it only showcased the exterior design and not the interior. But now, insider sources have revealed specific details about the confirmed features and interior of the upcoming EV.
Tata Curvv: Interior and Features
The Curvv EV’s dashboard design looks similar to that of the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari models. Also, the EV features:
- 12-inch Harman Kardon infotainment screen
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Arcade.EV
- Support more than 15 OTT apps
- JBL nine-speaker setup
- Panoramic sunroof with mood lighting.
High-end variants of the Curvv will feature leatherette seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additionally, Tata will equip automatic models with its smart digital shifter, while the manual variant will retain a traditional gear lever. The rear seats can split-fold in a 60:40 configuration, and insider reports suggest that a power-operated tailgate will be an available option.
The Curvv will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, disc brakes, traction control, a 360-degree camera featuring a blind spot monitor, and Level 2 ADAS technology.
According to media sources, the Tata Curvv EV underwent GNCAP and BNCAP crash tests. It achieved five-star ratings in adult and child occupant protection.
Tata Curvv: Powertrain
The upcoming Curvv will likely feature Tata’s new 1.2-litre GDi turbo petrol engine, delivering 123bhp and 225Nm. Also, expect the automaker to offer the engine with a six-speed MT or a seven-speed DCT. Earlier this year, Tata confirmed the diesel variant powered by a 1.5-litre engine generating 113bhp and 260Nm.
Tata Curvv EV will be Tata’s second vehicle built on the ‘Acti.ev’ platform, following the Punch EV. Also, the EV will probably feature a battery pack ranging between 50 to 60 kWh, providing a driving range of over 500 km.
Expected Price of Tata Curvv EV
The expected price range for the Tata Curvv EV is between Rs. 18 lakh and Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, the Curvv EV will enter a segment called all-electric coupe SUV. Moreover, it will rival models like the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
