VinFast Reveals the Specifications of the VF 3, a Mini Electric Vehicle

With 210km range, the VinFast VF 3 delivers 43.5hp, helping the EV sprint from 0-50km/h in 5.3 seconds

VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled the specifications for its VF 3 electric SUV. Those eagerly waiting for the affordable mini electric car launch in India would have to hold on further. That’s because there is no confirmation regarding the launch of the VF 3 in India.

However, the EV maker filed for a patent for the model’s design in India several months ago. Additionally, it is establishing its India plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This suggests that the company is considering VF 3 for the Indian market.

VinFast initiated bookings for the VF 3 in Vietnam earlier this month. Remarkably, the company revealed that it received more than 27,000 pre-orders in just 66 hours.

Even though the EV has a compact size, VinFast is marketing the car as a ‘mini-SUV’. In comparison, the VF 3 exceeds India’s smallest electric vehicle, the MG Comet, by 216mm in length and 174mm in width while standing 18mm shorter.

An 18.64kWh lithium-ion battery powers the motor, providing a range of up to 210km on a single charge. Using a fast charger, you can charge the electric mini car from 10-70% in 35 minutes.

Pricing

The price of the VinFast VF 3, including the battery, is VND 322 million, equivalent to about Rs 10.54 lakh.

The manufacturer provides the option to purchase the car without the battery pack for VND 240 million (Rs 7.86 lakh). Customers who choose this option can subscribe to a battery pack plan.

VinFast is preparing to launch two completely built import models in the Indian market in the second half of FY2025. These models include a compact SUV (VF e34) and a crossover hatchback (VF 5).

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, there is no confirmation from the company regarding the India launch of the VF 3. But on the bright side, the company did patent the model design a few months ago.

If launched in India, the VF 3 could directly compete with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eWX, scheduled for launch next year. Based on its price point, the mini electric car could also rival the MG Comet EV.
