Tata Motors has released a new preview video showcasing its soon-to-be-launched electric vehicle. This marks the debut reveal of the Curvv EV since Tata announced its upcoming launch in India.
In the latest teaser video, the Curvv and Curvv EV are undergoing rigorous testing in the scorching heat of the Thar desert in Rajasthan. Tata is planning to introduce the Curvv EV first in India, aiming for a release around the upcoming festive season.
The new teaser video reveals both the Curvv and Curvv EV, disguised with camouflage, navigating the sandy dunes of the Thar desert. Both vehicles drift on sandy stretches, suggesting their off-road capabilities. Tata Motors offered glimpses of the Curvv and Curvv EV, disclosing more details about the vehicles before their debut.
Battery and Range
Tata Motors will employ the Acti.ev architecture, a specialized platform designed for electric vehicles. The automaker also used the same platform for the Punch EV.
Moreover, this platform can accommodate front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drive setups. The teaser video featuring the Curvv EV engaging in light off-road activities in Rajasthan demonstrates its potential capabilities.
Tata Motors has not disclosed the battery capacity yet. However, the electric SUV will most likely provide a range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Also, the Indian automaker may offer the EV in two variants – a standard and an extended-range version.
Design and Interior
Regarding its appearance, the Curvv EV closely resemble the previously showcased concept version. Furthermore, recent teasers confirm that it will feature:
- LED headlights, DRL and lightbar upfront
- A sealed grille
- Interconnected LED taillights
- Integrated door handles
- Coupe-like roofline
Inside, the Curvv EV may have features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, Vehicle2Load functionality, Level 2 ADAS, and various other amenities.
Final Thoughts
Tata will probably price the Curvv EV slightly higher (around Rs 16-18 lakh) than the Nexon EV. So, when launched, the electric SUV will take on the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVx.
