Lamborghini introduced the Urus SE, its first high-performance SUV with plug-in hybrid tech, in South Korea on Tuesday. The SUV first appeared at the Auto China Beijing this April.
Luxury brands are expanding their footprint in Korea, which had the highest per-capita spending on personal luxury goods in 2022. In December, Bentley introduced a luxury SUV priced at $260,000 in Korea. Meanwhile, Ferrari hosted its first public event in Asia in Seoul last year.
According to recent registration data from the Korean Trade Ministry, Lamborghini achieved sales of 195 cars in South Korea during the first half of 2024. It marks a 7.1% increase from the previous year and suggests a potentially strong year ahead for the automaker.
Power and Performance Specifications
Surpassing the Performante variant, the Urus SE is Lamborghini’s most powerful model. Also, the Urus SE is the heaviest model, weighing 2,550 kg —almost 300 kg more than the existing Urus S. The increased weight is due to the placement of the electric motor between the engine and gearbox. Additionally, the 25.9 kilowatt-hour battery under the trunk adds to the weight.
According to Lamborghini, the Urus SE, featuring an 800 CV hybrid powertrain, sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Also, the SUV hits the 200 km/h mark in 11.4 seconds and achieves the top speed of 312 km/h.
The luxury automaker mentioned that its twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine produces 620 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the electric powertrain contributes 192 CV and 483 Nm of torque.
Furthermore, with a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, the plug-in hybrid SUV can travel over 60 km in electric power mode. This results in an 80% reduction in emissions compared to the current model.
Desing Updates
In order to give the plug-in hybrid SUV a fresh design, Lamborghini enhanced the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. According to the company, the updated design emphasizes the vehicle’s dynamic shape, highlighting its sleek and robust appearance.
The company introduced several new features, such as a floating bonnet, headlight clusters equipped with matrix LED technology, a revised bumper and front grille, a new rear diffuser, and a reshaped taillight grille inspired by Lamborghini super sports cars like the Gallardo.
Moreover, the Urus SE features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an equally sized touchscreen display. This enables drivers and passengers to access the Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS).
However, each Urus SE on the road will be unique, thanks to Lamborghini’s customization service, Ad Personam. Buyers can customize their SUVs with more than 100 body-related options, 47 interior color combinations, and four interior stitching choices.
Expected Price of Lamborghini Urus SE
On August 9, 2024, Lamborghini will introduce the Urus SE plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in New Delhi, India. The Urus S debuted in India last year with a price tag of Rs 4.18 crore (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Performante entered the market in late 2022, priced at Rs 4.22 crore (ex-showroom).
Expect the Lamborghini Urus SE to be priced between Rs. 4.90 Crore and Rs. 5.00 Crore. It will compete with luxury performance SUVs such as the Lotus Eletre, BMW XM, and Audi RSQ8.
