Ather has started the production of Rizta at its factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The first group of electric scooters has just been manufactured there. The company unveiled Rizta earlier this year with a starting price of ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). You can choose from three different versions of the e-scooter and seven different colors.
On Monday morning, Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather, announced the news on X. Ather is counting on the new Rizta and believes it will be an ideal choice for families considering a comfortable ride at a reasonable price.
Ather has been a strong contender in the electric scooter market in India. Models like the Ather 450S, 450X, and 450 Apex have performed quite well, even with more rivals entering the scene. Now, with the new Ather Rizta, the competition is getting more intense.
Range and Battery
The Ather Rizta has different battery options, each with its own range. The cheapest one has a 2.9 kWh battery and can go up to 105 km on a single charge. Also, there’s a larger 3.7 kWh battery that offers around 125 km per charge.
Rizta uses a PMS electric motor mounted to the frame. It can go from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 80 km/h.
Charging times vary: the base and mid-level models take about 5 hours and 45 minutes for a full charge. Meanwhile, the top model can do it in 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Special Features
The electric scooter comes with several features:
- Digital instrument console with touch screen and turn-by-turn navigation
- Smartphone connection
- Mono LED headlight
- LED taillights
- 12-inch alloy wheels
Moreover, the electric scooter has the biggest seat in the segment in India. Also, it offers 34 liters of storage space underneath.
Price and Competition
Ather introduced Rizta to the Indian market in April. It starts at ₹1.10 lakh and can go up to about ₹1.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric scooter might also qualify for subsidies available on certain models in different parts of India.
Rizta’s design is inspired by the 450 Series. However, it’s made on a new platform with a distinct design. It competes with e-scooters like the TVS iQube and Ola S1 Air and traditional petrol-powered models like the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.
