The German luxury automaker Audi has upgraded its electric four-door coupe, the E-Tron GT. The new version includes several mechanical improvements. It will be available in three models: S E-Tron GT, RS E-Tron GT, and RS E-Tron GT performance.
Audi is always looking to push the boundaries of automotive engineering. And this time, it made the Performance variant the most powerful production car.
The Audi e-tron GT still looks futuristic, just like it did in 2019 when Robert Downey Jr. drove the concept in The Avengers: Endgame.
Motors and Performance
All variants use two electric motors: one at the front and one at the rear. However, their power outputs vary.
- S E-Tron GT – 670 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, top speed of 250km/h
- RS E-Tron GT – 844 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, top speed of 250 km/h
- The Performance model – 912 horsepower, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, top speed of 250km/h
Moreover, the RS models feature a boost function that can add up to 70 kW of power to the car.
Notably, Audi made the rear electric motor lighter by 10 kg. Also, they have strengthened the driveshaft in the powertrain to improve power distribution. Another upgrade is a larger brake system. The E-Tron comes standard with air suspension using two-chamber/two-valve technology.
Batteries and Range
The E-Tron now has a bigger 105 kWh battery pack; previously, it was 93 kWh. This upgrade gives it a range of 609 km, but Audi has not disclosed the range figures for all models.
The German automaker increased the maximum charging power by 50 kW, now reaching 320 kW. Furthermore, the battery can fast-charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes under ideal conditions. Despite having a larger capacity, the battery weighs 625 kg, which is 9 kg lighter than its predecessor.
Design and Interior
In terms of looks, the new model keeps many of the styling features from the previous version. However, each variant has distinct design elements that set it apart from the others. While the S variant has a more conventional style, the RS models have a sportier appearance.
The interior of the car remains unchanged, except for minor updates like a new steering wheel and seats. It offers an optional panoramic sunroof that can be made opaque with the push of a button.
Availability in India
Audi’s luxury EV lineup continues to expand in India. Currently, it sells the E-Tron GT model for prices ranging from Rs 1.72 crore to Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom). However, the latest model with enhanced features and performance options will arrive in India soon.
