MG Comet EV and ZS EV Accounted For 40% of Its Total Sales in June 2024

In June 2024, JSW MG Motor India recorded sales of 4,644 units. This is a 9% Y-o-Y decline in retail sales as the company retailed 5,125 units in June 2023.

However, MG’s NEV (New Energy Vehicles) accounted for over 40% of sales, totaling 1,861 units during this period. The automaker currently offers the Comet EV and the ZS EV in its EV lineup.

ZS EV, the flagship SUV of the company, recorded its highest monthly sales in June 2024. In addition, the EV broke its own monthly sales record in India for the second consecutive month. In May, MG Motor achieved more than 35% of its sales from EVs, with 2024 ZS EV leading the charge.

Moreover, the MG Comet EV played a significant role in boosting EV sales for the company. This compact and boxy electric car is currently the most budget-friendly option available in India.

The price range of the Comet EV starts from ₹7.98 lakh and goes up to ₹9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). In its category, this electric hatchback faces competition from models like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen E-C3.

MG New Electric Car in India

MG plans to launch a new electric car named Cloud EV in September 2024. The Cloud EV will expand MG India’s current EV lineup, which includes the Comet EV and the ZS EV.

The Cloud EV closely resembles the ZS EV in size and powertrain. Moreover, the car has been seen undergoing testing, accompanied by some of its patent images.

The Cloud EV’s dimensions are about 4.3 meters (length), 1.85 meters (width), and 1.65 meters (height). Furthermore, it accommodates up to five passengers and features a minimalist design, including an LED DRL light bar at the front and lower-positioned headlamps.

It has a front design similar to the Comet but with a longer bonnet. The EV has a charging port on the front quarter panel, flush-fitting door handles, and alloy wheels inspired by windmills. At the rear, there is a connected light bar with LED tail lamps.
