MG Cyber GTS Concept Showcased, Teasing Future RWD Electric Sports Car

MG Cyber GTS Concept embodies the essence of the MGC GTS Sebring and is 2+2 sports car

MG, a Chinese-owned brand, showcased the Cyber GTS, a concept car, at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Derived from the MG Cyberster, their first sports car-focused model in years, the Cyber GTS is a two-door hardtop concept.

According to MG, the concept car commemorates the 1968 MGC GTS Sebring, a racing vehicle that attained MG’s top factory performance at the 1968 12 Hours of Sebring.

Design Cues

In terms of design, it’s clear that there are connections to the Cyberster production model. It includes the elongated and low front end and Union Jack-themed tail lights with a lightbar element. The bumper designs are almost indistinguishable as well. Moreover, the concept car comes with 19-inch wheels.

The most notable alteration is to the roofline. It replaces the Cyberster’s convertible top with a streamlined hardtop roof that extends to the rear edge. Details regarding the interior remain undisclosed. However, reports indicate that the Cyber GTS is a 2+2 sports car, unlike the Cyberster’s configuration, which seats two.

Powertrain

MG states that the concept embodies the essence of the MGC GT Sebring. Further, it employs modern, advanced EV powertrains to deliver a rear-wheel drive configuration.

The Cyberster offers options for both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive powertrains. The rear-wheel-drive model produces 335 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 5 seconds, and achieves a 195kmph top speed.

Meanwhile, the AWD generates a more powerful 503 horsepower. Also, it accelerates to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and achieves a top speed of 201 kmph. In contrast, the RWD offers an extended range, claiming 510 km on a single charge compared to the AWD’s 444 km.

MG suggests the Cyber GTS Concept provides a glimpse of its upcoming hardtop sports car. However, they haven’t specified a timeline.
