Indian automaker giant Tata Motors has announced that it will officially release the much-awaited Curvv SUV coupe on August 7, 2024. Recently, the automaker unveiled a series of teasers for the SUV, presenting it in both electric and ICE versions.
Moreover, Tata is promoting the Curvv series by showing test mules of the models in different weather conditions and offering a preview of some onboard technologies. The heavily camouflaged test vehicles shown in the clips reveal minimal design distinctions between the two models.
What are the Features of Tata Curvv?
Initially, both the ICE and EV models seem almost identical, with differences in design likely focusing on the grille and bumpers. At the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, the Curvv diesel concept showcased a blacked-out grille, which could be swapped for a body-colored grille on the electric version. Since the EV requires less cooling than the ICE version, many of the bumper’s air vents might be closed off.
The teasers have disclosed that the Curvv will feature a complete digital instrument panel like the one found in the Nexon and Harrier. Also, it will offer various drive modes and paddle shifters and have advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Tata Curvv, both ICE and EV, will be 5-seater instead of 7-seater. Also, the Curvv measures 4308 mm in length, 1810 mm in width, and 1630 mm in height.
What is the Range of the Curvv EV?
Shifting the focus to the mechanical aspects, the Curvv EV will become Tata’s second vehicle to use the Acti.ev platform. Tata Motors has not yet disclosed any specifics about the EV’s powertrain. However, it might come with both single and dual-motor configurations and provide a range exceeding 500 km.
The ICE version of the Curvv is likely to be available with both petrol and diesel engine choices. The anticipated engine lineup will include a brand-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine.
What is the Price of the Curvv in India?
The Curvv EV will most likely hit the market ahead of the ICE model, which could cost between Rs 10-15 lakh. Meanwhile the EV might be available for Rs 16-20 lakh. Upon their release, both versions of the Tata Curvv will join the mid-sized SUV segment. Also, they will face competition from models such as the Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, MG ZS EV, and Citroen Basalt.
