An actor and host, Mandira Bedi, recently bought a Volvo C40 Recharge electric coupe SUV. The car costs ₹62.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and is a trendy option compared to the XC40 Recharge. Both cars share the same base, but the C40 has a sleeker design with a sloping roof.
The media spotted Bedi with her children when she got the delivery of this new electric car. But did you know that Mandira Bedi was among the first Indian celebrities to buy an electric vehicle? In 2020, she bought a Type 1 Nexon EV. And now, she posted a picture of her new EV, Volvo C40 Recharge, on the internet.
About the EV Performance
The Volvo C40 Recharge uses two electric motors and a 78-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. These motors generate 402 horsepower and 660 Nm of maximum torque. Moreover, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and has a 180 kmph top speed. All-wheel drive is standard, with motors placed on both the front and rear axles.
The Volvo C40 Recharge provides an impressive range of 530 km on a full battery charge. With a DC fast charger, it takes only 27 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. Meanwhile, using an 11 kW Level 2 AC charger, the car takes around 8 hours for a complete charge.
Design and Interior
The C40 Recharge has a distinct design that resembles other Volvo vehicles. It has features like Thor’s Hammer-themed LED DRLs, a closed front grille, and a unique sloping roofline.
Inside the C40 Recharge, you’ll find a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The front seats are heated and ventilated for added comfort. It also includes dual-zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof.
The sloping roofline of the C40 Recharge reduces the headroom in the rear seats. Notably, the boot capacity of the C40 Recharge is 413 litres, which is smaller than the 452 litres found in the XC40 Recharge.
Safety and Competition
Bedi praised the Volvo EV as the safest vehicle on the road. Well, the Swedish automaker is famous for its safety features, and the e-SUVs made by the company are just as safe.
The C40 Recharge includes advanced safety features like a full ADAS suite, multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and other technologies.
The C40 Recharge competes with several electric SUVs on the market, such as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BMW iX1. Soon, it will also face competition from the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQA SUV and the new-generation MINI Countryman E, both set to launch in the coming weeks.
