The Formula E calendar for the 2024/25 season has been released getting approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council. The upcoming Formula E season promises to showcase the future of electric motorsports, as it will have 17 races held in 11 cities.
The Formula E championship usually races on street circuits. However, less than 25% of the races will be at permanent tracks in the next season. Most races will still be on street circuits in big cities.
Formula E 2024-25 Season
Formula E Season 11 starts in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 7 2024. The next race will be the Mexico City e-Prix on January 11 2025. After that, the championship will head to Saudi Arabia for the Diriyah e-Prix. After that, on March 8, a completely new venue will be added to the calendar.
The new venue hasn’t been announced yet, but Formula E will race again in Miami at the Homestead Miami Speedway on April 12. After that, there will be another double-header in Monaco on May 3 and 4, 2025.
What about the Asia rounds? Well! It will begin with two races in Tokyo and Shanghai. And then, there will be one race in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Season 11 will then take a two-week break before resuming for two races at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport on July 12 and 13. The final races of the season will be in London on July 26 and 27.
The new Gen3 EVO car
In the upcoming season, teams and drivers will use the new Gen3 EVO race car. This new model will have performance improvements compared to the current vehicle.
The new electric race car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 1.82 seconds. It is an impressive 36% faster than the existing model. Before Season 11 begins, teams will conduct pre-season testing in Valencia, Spain, from November 4 to 7, 2024, over four days.
What about Formula E in India?
Unfortunately for the Indian fans, there will be no race in India next season due to issues from this year. The Hyderabad e-Prix, planned for February, got cancelled abruptly because of problems with the state government. There were rumors that Formula E wanted to collaborate with new organizers to conduct a race in India in another city.
What’s more shocking is the removal of Rome e-Prix from the calendar for next season. It is the first time this has happened since the championship began in 2016/17.
