The Tata Curvv, set to launch soon in electric and traditional engine variants, is nearing its debut. The Indian automaker recently showed us glimpses of the upcoming vehicle. In the latest teaser, we saw camouflaged prototype models of the SUV-coupe testing in the hilly areas of Leh.
Also, we saw a trailer of the Curvv in the Thar Desert, Rajasthan. It means Tata is testing the upcoming electric SUV for its off-road capabilities in extreme conditions. From these teasers, we observed several exciting new features.
What Did We Notice?
The teaser offers a preview of the digital instrument cluster, identical to the 10.25-inch screen found in the Nexon EV. Additionally, we noticed a lane-keeping assistance feature on the driver’s display. This indicates that the Curvv EV will include ADAS, such as adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance assistance.
Also, we spotted paddle shifters designed to aid in energy regeneration for the Curvv EV. It is a feature borrowed from the Nexon EV. Another notable inclusion from the teaser was a drive mode selector visible on the rotary unit. We can clear see that the Curvv EV will offer three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport.
Additional Features
Tata Curvv EV will likely feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other expected amenities include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic air conditioning, and wireless charging for mobile phones.
Regarding safety features, the Curvv EV may have six airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and electronic stability control (ESC). Additionally, upper trim levels might include a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Expected Range and Launch
Tata has not officially disclosed the specifications for the Curvv EV powertrain. However, we know that the upcoming electric SUV will use Tata’s Acti.ev platform. So, you can expect the EV to come with two battery options, offering a range of around 450-500 km.
The Indian automaker will look to launch the Curvv EV during the upcoming festive season. Moreover, it will likely price the EV SUV around 18-20 lakh (starting ex-showroom price). When released in the market, it will compete with the MG ZS EV (Rs. 18.98 lakh, ex-showroom) and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
