Noida Police Crackdown: Inter-State Vehicle Theft Gang Arrested

Noida Police arrested six individuals from a gang that operates across states, accused of stealing four-wheelers. The police said the gang used advanced techniques and programming devices to alter the vehicle’s ECM (Electronic Content Management) system.

According to police reports, this tactic enabled the gang to create duplicate keys and gain access to a vehicle in just 5 to 10 minutes. Also, the gang conducted operations in several states, including UP, Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra.

As per Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ram Badan Singh, Additional DCP Manish Mishra and ACP (Noida-3) Shavya Goyal led the operation. They successfully recovered 10 stolen cars and several tools employed in the thefts. Moreover, they arrested the convicts near Bharat Hospital on the FNG Road within the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 police station.

Police identified the individuals as follows:

  • Sonu (35) from Karnal
  • Khaleel (34) from Moradabad
  • Monu Kumar (33) from Sambhal
  • Rajesh Kakkad alias Raja alias Raju (47) from Ludhiana
  • Ali Sher alias Imran alias Ali (38) from Aurangabad
  • Pramod (29) from Karnal

Recovered Vehicle Inventory Details

DCP Noida mentioned that the gang fulfilled vehicle orders upon request. They arranged meetings with clients in Delhi NCR and served customers as far as Tamil Nadu.  Furthermore, the Noida police seized stolen items, including 19 keys from different car brands, three L-shaped lock breakers, two key programming devices, 12 license plates, and six fake registration certificates (RCs).

Each member had specific responsibilities within the gang. Sonu, for instance, was highly skilled in technology and could swiftly hack the car’s electrical systems. One member specialized in key duplication, while some handled the sale of stolen vehicles.

After stealing the cars, the gang would remove the license plates and conceal the vehicles in secure or isolated locations for two to three days. According to the police, the gang members possessed expertise in vehicle mechanics. Moreover, they used counterfeit documents and license plates to evade detection during the transportation of stolen vehicles.

The recovered vehicles include a Toyota Fortuner, several Hyundai Creta vehicles, a Brezza, a Tata Sumo Gold, and numerous Maruti cars.

Criminal Histories of Gang Members

As per an official statement, all individuals involved in the case have a criminal history across different states. For example, Khaleel is implicated in several cases, including charges under the Gangster Act and various sections of the IPC related to theft and fraud. Meanwhile, Sonu has multiple charges in Delhi and Noida for theft and related crimes. Also, Monu Kumar has a lot of cases against him in Delhi and Haryana.

The police stated that the gang members have been charged with theft, receiving stolen property dishonestly, aiding in concealing stolen goods, and using a fake property mark. Moreover, legal proceedings are ongoing.
