Tata Motors recently confirmed the introduction of the Curvv SUV coupe to the Indian market on August 7. However, the Indian automaker released a video on its social media platform revealing the vehicle’s official unveiling date – July 19.
Currently, it is uncertain if the company will disclose the pricing for the electric and ICE variants on the same day. However, expect the Curvv EV to be available for purchase first, with prices starting around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Reports indicate that certain Tata dealerships in India are accepting bookings for the Curvv EV. The electric vehicle is set to arrive at dealerships by late July, with customers needing to make an unofficial booking deposit of Rs 21,000.
Based on various teasers and spy shots, it appears that the Curvv may adopt the design features of other Tata vehicles. These include a split headlamp setup, integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), a sleek coupe-like outline, a shark-fin antenna, and alloy wheels. The Curvv EV will likely feature a solid front grille, different bumpers and LED lighting designs to distinguish it from the ICE Curvv.
Powertrain of Tata Curvv
In terms of powertrain, the ICE Curvv will possibly feature engine options similar to those found in the Nexon. It includes a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 118 horsepower and 170 Nm torque. Moreover, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine produces 113 horsepower and 260Nm torque. Expect Tata to offer a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT transmission options.
Meanwhile, the Curvv EV, built on Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev platform, will most likely come with two electric drivetrain choices and a range of around 500km on a full charge. Furthermore, there are rumours that the automaker might introduce a CNG variant.
What is the Price of Tata Curvv?
Tata Motors will likely price the ICE Curvv between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. Meanwhile, it will probably put a price tag of Rs 20 lakh on the EV version. Following their launch, both versions of the Tata Curvv will enter the mid-size SUV market segment. Also, they will compete with Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, and MG ZS EV.
