Tata Motors Unveils Productions-Spec Curvv Coupe SUV Ahead of Aug 7 Launch

With a battery pack ranging between 50-60 kWh, the Tata Curvv EV will likely provide a range over 500km

Tata Motors has taken the wraps off the much-awaited coupe SUV – Curvv. Finally, we get to see what the SUV looks like after several teasers and tests. Tata initially released the EV variant of the Curvv in April 2022 and then the ICE version in January 2023.

It’s important to note that the Indian automaker has only revealed the exterior design and styling of the production model and not the interior. For that, we have to wait for the official launch, which is scheduled for August 7.

Concept and the Production Model Difference

As expected, Tata has only changed a few details over the Curvv showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo. For instance, EV’s conventional side mirrors have replaced the exterior cameras, and the DRLs don’t extend to the front hood.

Also, the designs on the bumper are exactly the same as those on the Nexon EV. Meanwhile, the automaker has placed the charging port upfront, just below the Tata logo.

The concept featured a floating C-pillar, which Tata didn’t keep in the final production of the Curvv. Despite this, the wraparound cladding maintains its glossy black finish. Towards the back, the design of the wide taillight remains unchanged from the concept, with minor adjustments made to the rear bumper.

Platform and Dimensions

Tata Curvv EV will be Tata’s second vehicle built on the ‘Acti.ev’ platform, following the Punch EV. Earlier, Tata disclosed the dimensions for the Curvv: 4,308 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, and 1,630 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. Meanwhile, the trunk space for the ICE Curvv will be 422 litres.

From the teasers, we can say that the Curvv will have a large touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital dashboard, similar to those found in the Nexon and Harrier models.

Also, it will offer different drive modes, paddle shifters, and ADAS. Additionally, the Curvv will feature a panoramic sunroof.

Powertrains

The ICE Curvv will likely offer engine choices of 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol with direct injection and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV will probably feature a battery pack ranging between 50 to 60 kWh, providing a driving range of over 500 km.

Tata previously mentioned the possibility of both single- and dual-motor setups on this platform. However, it is uncertain if the Curvv will offer these configurations.

Expected Price of Tata Curvv

Tata Motors will likely price the ICE Curvv between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. Meanwhile, it will probably put a price tag of Rs 20 lakh on the EV version. Following their launch, both versions of the Tata Curvv will enter the mid-size SUV market segment. Also, they will compete with Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, and MG ZS EV.
