Bajaj Freedom, the first-ever CNG motorcycle globally, seeks to revolutionize the 125cc commuter segment. As a dual-fuel motorcycle, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has priced Bajaj Freedom aggressively, loaded it with features, and ensured high fuel efficiency.
Bajaj offers the Freedom 125 in three versions:
- NG04 Drum at Rs 95,000
- NG04 Drum LED at Rs 1.05 lakh
- NG04 Disc LED at Rs 1.10 lakh, all ex-showroom prices.
Here are a few reasons why you should consider buying the Bajaj Freedom 125:
Dual-fuel Option
The Freedom stands out as the first motorcycle powered by CNG. Moreover, this Bajaj motorcycle features a 125cc engine.
The two-wheeler company placed a 2 kg CNG tank beneath the seat with a traditional 2-litre petrol tank. Thanks to CNG, this motorcycle offers reduced running costs compared to its petrol-powered counterparts, making it a cost-effective choice.
Cost Savings
Bajaj states that the Freedom CNG can save around 50 percent on fuel costs compared to typical 125cc petrol bikes. In CNG mode, the Freedom achieves a mileage of over 200 km per 2 kg CNG tank. Meanwhile, Bajaj claims that in petrol mode, the 2-litre tank offers a range of more than 130 km.
The combined estimated range of the Freedom totals more than 330 km. This is around 102 km per kilogram of CNG. Moreover, CNG combustion emits about 26.7 percent less CO2 compared to petrol.
Hardware
The Freedom 125 CNG features a trellis frame, a first in its class, offering enhanced stiffness. The bike also has front telescopic forks and a mono-shock rear suspension.
The front 17-inch tyre features a 240mm disc brake, and the rear 16-inch tyre offers a choice between a drum brake or a 130mm disc brake, depending on the variant.
The Freedom 125 bike ensures a stable and comfortable ride with a wheelbase of 1,340mm, seat height of 825mm, and ground clearance of 170mm.
Impressive Features
All lighting on the Freedom 125, including the headlight and tail light, uses LED. However, the base model of the CNG bike comes with a halogen headlight.
The bike has an LCS instrument panel capable of Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to sync with smartphones for call and SMS notifications. Also, the console displays essential data such as speed, distance travelled, fuel level, gear position, and current and average fuel efficiency.
A switch on the left handlebar allows smooth switching between petrol and CNG fuel options.
Engine Specs
Powering the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine. It generates 9.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 9.7 Nm of torque. Furthermore, this engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox.
The CNG bike has three variants, with prices starting at ₹95,000. However, only Bajaj CNG bike top-variant price at ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) is available for sale right now.
