VinFast, a Vietnamese EV maker, plans to introduce its models in India as completely built-up units (CBUs). And then later, they will start assembling these cars locally at their facility in Tamil Nadu.
In addition to the initial models, Vietnamese automaker will most likely launch the VF6, VF7, VF8 and the mini electric VF3 in the Indian market. Recently, VinFast was testing its VF e34 electric SUV on Indian roads again but covering it in heavy camouflage. So, let’s closely examine these spy photos of the electric SUV.
Powertrain
Although VinFast didn’t reveal the performance number of VF e34 for India, the global model is available. Firstly, the electric SUV has a 41.9 kWh battery pack. Moreover, it features a single electric motor generating 148bhp and 242 Nm of torque. According to WLTP standards, the claimed range of the VF e34 is 318 km.
Also, the e-SUV has three drive modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport. You can charge the VinFast VF e34 from 10-70% using a DC fast charger in just 27 minutes.
Exterior Design
Since the car was heavily camouflaged, it’s hard to predict the overall design. But the spied mule seemed to have similar features as the global-spec model.
It included sleek LED DRLs, an LED lighting setup, a front bumper-mounted radar for the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a robust rear bumper.
Features and Safety
The recent spy images don’t show the interior of the VF e34, but it will likely have the same cabin layout as the global-spec model. The global version features an all-grey cabin theme and a 10-inch info system. Furthermore, on the passenger side of the dashboard, there’s an extended vent panel instead of central AC vents.
Also, the car will have features such as:
- Digital driver’s display
- 6-speaker sound system
- Automatic air conditioning
- 6-way manually adjustable driver seat
- 7-inch read screen
If we talk about the safety. the global model includes:
- 6 airbags
- 360-degree camera
- Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
- ADAS features like a blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert for safety
Wrapping Up
The expected launch date of VF e34 in India is uncertain, but it will likely launch around 2025 at a starting price of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). When in the Indian market, the electric SUV will rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX.
