Bollywood Actor Suniel Shetty has gone electric with the MG Comet EV as his first EV. The renowned actor uploaded a picture on Instagram showing off his brand-new MG Comet EV, an electric hatchback that costs upwards of Rs 8 lakh. The caption under his picture says “My first EV, ‘The MG Comet’… love it!!” Interestingly, some of the other Bollywood celebrities also showed their interest in the MG Comet EV in the comment section of the image.
The MG Comet EV was launched recently and has seen some good sales figures since its debut. MG Comet is targeted at people searching for a good city EV and is compact and easy to roam around in. Before the MG Comet EV, MG Motor had launched their full-size crossover EV in India by the name of the MG ZS EV. It competes with the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Kona Electric.
As for the MG Comet EV, the compact electric car measures just under 3 meters in length and is 1.5 meters wide. Even though it is so short, the carmaker has offered 4 seats to accommodate a maximum of 4 occupants. It offers a turning radius of 4.2 meters which, again, defines the practicality of the car.
The MG Comet EV is powered by a 17.3kWh battery pack which helps to power up a rear-fitted single-motor. The EV produces 42 PS of maximum power and 110 Nm of peak torque. The EV is a rear-wheel drive and seems to be a fun car to drive around. Moreover, the 17.3kWh battery offers a maximum range of 230km, which is a considerably good figure for urban use. Other practical features offered on the electric car include all LED lights, a 10.25-inch infotainment system including voice commands, steering-mounted audio controls, wireless Android auto and car play. The MG Comet EV is on sale in India in 5 appealing colour options including two dual-tone options – Apple Green and Starry Black, and Candy White and Starry Black, and three single-colour options – Aurora Silver, Candy White, and Starry Black.
