BMW Motorrad, the luxury carmaker’s motorcycle arm, unveiled its CE 04 electric scooter in India. With this high-end model, BMW has made its debut in India’s electric two-wheeler market.
The German automaker has set the price tag of Rs 14.90 lakh for CE 04, making it the most expensive electric scooter in India. Customers can start booking the CE 04 today; however, the deliveries will begin in September.
TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu will produce this electric scooter. The Hosur plant has served as the hub for exporting the BMW CE 04 EV to various international markets.
BMW CE 04: Powertrain and Range
The BMW CE04 features a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor that generates 42 bhp and 62 Nm of torque. The electric scooter can sprint from 0-50 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. However, its top speed is electronically limited to 120 km/h.
Also, three riding modes—Eco, Rain, and Road —are available on the scooter to cater to various riding conditions.
Furthermore, with an 8.5 kWh battery pack, the CE 04 delivers about 130 km of range on a full charge (as per WMTC cycle). Most notably, the battery supports DC fast charging with a 6.9kW charger. This allows the scooter to recharge from 0 to 100 percent in around 1h40min. Also, there is a standard 2.3Kw charger that boosts the scooter from 0-100 percent in 4hr20min.
BMW CE 04: Design and Features
The new BMW electric scooter has a futuristic design with the spacious proportions of a maxi-scooter. The CE 04 stands apart from other electric scooters thanks to its flat bench seat and robust front design. Also, with a length exceeding two meters, the scooter projects a commanding presence.
BMW CE 04, available in blue and white color, includes various features to improve safety and convenience.
Some of the features are:
- 10.25-inch TFT display with navigation
- USB Type-C charger
- A keyless ride system

- Main stand and reverse mode
The CE 04 features 15-inch wheels on both front and rear axles. The scooter comes with dynamic traction control and an optional ABS Pro system. Also, it has a robust steel double-loop frame and 265 mm front and rear disc brakes, each featuring standard ABS.
The seat of the CE 04 sits at a modest height of 780mm. Meanwhile, its kerb weight is around 230kg, nearly matching the latest R 1300 GS.
