Recently, trademark applications revealed names like Freedom, Trekker, and Glider. Many people speculated that these names might be for Bajaj’s upcoming CNG-powered motorcycle.
However, a recent leak from a website now suggests the bike will adopt the name Freedom 125. Also, it confirms that the previous rumors about the name ‘Bruzer’ were not true.
Now, if we talk about the bike design, it will use an engine similar to a sloper design and likely have a capacity of around 125cc. This would make it the world’s first CNG bike to match the performance of a 110cc petrol bike. That’s because CNG-powered models are typically less powerful than petrol-powered ones.
Details About the CNG bike
Bajaj will unveil the CNG bike on July 5, and we’ll get to know more details about it tomorrow.
The Indian automaker will use a sloper engine design for the bike, which will accommodate both CNG and petrol tanks. This design helps in using space efficiently for all fuel systems and other parts. The bike will have a tubular steel cradle frame. Also, we’ll probably see the CNG cylinder under a flat seat on the bike.
Apart from the main CNG tank, there will also be a smaller auxiliary petrol tank. This tank will come in handy if the CNG runs out. Therefore, each tank will have its own filler nozzle for refueling.
What do we Know from the Spy Shots?
Spy shots and teasers suggest that the CNG bike will probably have LED lights, including a circular LED headlight and triangular-shaped DRLs. Also, it will feature bulb indicators, knuckle guards, and a blue button to switch between petrol and CNG.
Other features include tank shrouds with a brushed aluminium finish, a digital instrument console, and an upswept exhaust system.
The CNG-powered Bajaj bike will likely have a telescopic front fork and a rear mono-shock for suspension. It will likely use a disc brake in the front and a drum brake in the rear, mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels for stopping power.
However, we don’t know yet if the bike will feature a single-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) or a combined braking system (CBS).
What about the Pricing?
Although not confirmed, Bajaj CNG bike price will be between Rs 90,000 and Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). While the bike won’t have direct competitors, it will serve as an alternative to models like the Hero Splendor Plus, TVS Radeon and Bajaj Platina 110.
